National Baking Week in October 2025  was a culinary delight!

At SFYC, we whisked up something truly special for National Baking Week (14th–20th October) ….A celebration of baking, creativity, and community! We explored how baking and painting share the same creative spirit.

We combined cake decorating with lots of lively conversation and plenty of giggles and sing-a-long laughter. Residents shared their stories of culinary triumphs (and the occasional kitchen disaster!) while designing their own edible artworks. From soft floral icing to leafy green details, our “bake-off care challenge” inspired everyone to treat cakes as colourful canvases. And everyone was a winner!

Our recommendation this October is to step into your 'pop up' care home kitchen with a painter’s mindset. Get ready to mix colours, layer textures, and let your imagination rise…. And  who knows…Your next British bake could be a masterpiece!
