Inspired by Birds
Winter is upon us and with it the sparkle of frost covered fields and rooftops, but we're feeling chirpy! We are buzzing about the birds - robins, blue tits, blackbirds. We're inspired by birdsong and the sight of their colourful painterly plumes. Indeed, looking after nature is a way to nurture wellbeing.
At SFYC we enjoy the activity event of working with residents to create bird food - fat balls for the birds to peck at. It is a spectacle to watch through the window and see birds flocking for food.
This winter we are on birdwatch looking out for different types of birds and listening to their songs. This artistically inspires the opportunity to create an indoor 3D Winter Wonderland Bird Aviary. Use of a recycled kitchen paper roll transforms into a bird-feeder and cardboard curves into the wings of a wren or robin.
Abbie Cooke, founder of SFYC, is all of a flutter about the beautiful creations this theme encourages. She says:
"Birds are brilliant! Let's get going with their fat balls during the colder months and use this to inspire the creative crafting of our feathered friends!"
